Mansion Mobile Meets Demand for Remote HD Production with Grass Valley Multiformat Technology
Paris, France/Nevada City, Calif., February 10, 2009 — Mansion Mobile Television is building a brand new high-definition (HD) truck to meet the increased need for HD production in the Midwest and across the country, equipping it with 11 new Grass Valley™ LDK 8000 Elite HD cameras and a fully loaded Kalypso™ HD Video Production Center.
The purchase order is valued at more than $2 million.
Of the 11 LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam cameras, seven will be used for fixed positions in a SuperXpander configuration with box-style lenses, while four will be set-up in handheld configuration to roam the various venues. The Kalypso HD switcher includes a 4 M/E panel, four auxiliary bus panels, and is loaded with a variety of options.
The new 53-foot expandable HD truck, which is set to debut at the NAB convention in Las Vegas in April, will allow the company to produce twice as many live events. This will include entertainment shows as well as sports production.
"We chose the LDK 8000 Elite cameras and Kalypso HD switcher for their ability to capture and manage events in all of the major HD formats [720p and 1080i] as well as the cameras' 24p mode [1080p24]," said Dave Goodman, Vice President of Engineering for Mansion Mobile.
"By supporting productions shot in 24 frames per second, we've made this truck very entertainment friendly, though we'll continue to produce sporting events as well," continues Goodman. "We initially thought that this type of equipment with a 24p option would be prohibitively expensive, but the price and value we're getting from Grass Valley is very attractive to us for what we want to accomplish with this new truck. Now we'll be able to grow our business and compete with anyone."
